As part of the activities of the “Bridges of Hope” project, Shams Al-Insaniya Organization, in cooperation with the Committee for Combating Violent Extremism and with support from the German Agency, held the third session on 18/10/2025, dedicated to identifying the needs of women and analyzing the key challenges they face within the community, particularly among returnee families.
The session was attended by representatives from the Women’s Empowerment Department:
Ms. Najwa Ali Hussein, Ms. Azhar Abdulwahab Sadiq, Ms. Lamia Subhi Hamid, and Ms. Fadia Dannoun Younis.
The discussion addressed the reality of women in the governorate and the social and economic pressures they face. Participants shared firsthand experiences regarding difficulties in accessing services, the lack of economic empowerment opportunities, and the need for continuous legal and psychological support.
Facilitators focused on gathering the participants’ perspectives on key priorities, including training opportunities, securing official identification documents, social protection, and education. They also discussed issues related to gender-based violence and ways to strengthen women’s roles in promoting community stability. All contributions were documented as input for developing an effective response plan that takes women’s needs seriously.
At the end of the session, the main points raised were summarized and initial recommendations were formulated to be built upon in upcoming sessions, ensuring safe spaces for women and supporting their participation in peacebuilding and development efforts.
