Shams Al-Insaniya Organization, in cooperation with the Committee for Combating Violent Extremism and with support from the German Agency, implemented the second session within the “Bridges of Hope” project. This session focused on raising awareness about the mechanisms and requirements for benefiting from social welfare programs, with particular attention to the needs of returning families and ensuring their access to essential services. The session was attended by
• Mr. Saad Khalaf Faisal, Director of the Social Security Department
• Mr. Hussam Laith Hamed, Representative of the Social Welfare Directorate
• Mr. Hussein Hameed Mani‘, Representative of the Social Welfare Directorate
A representative from the Social Welfare Directorate provided a detailed explanation of the procedures for applying for the Social Protection Salary and the categories eligible for support. He also highlighted the special facilitations available to returning families when completing their official documents, in addition to explaining the steps that help them overcome obstacles related to missing papers or difficulties in proving residency.
During the session, an open discussion was held with participants through a Q&A segment, focusing on the key challenges faced by citizens—particularly returning families—during the application or follow-up process, such as lack of information or issues related to restoring stability. The team offered practical guidance to help these families access services more quickly and clearly.
The session also highlighted the important role played by civil society organizations in supporting vulnerable groups, including returning families, by promoting legal awareness, assisting in document completion, and following up on procedures to strengthen their ability to reintegrate and achieve stability once again.
