Project: Enhancing Women’s Leadership in Facing Community and Environmental Challenges

01/12/2024 – 31/03/2025

Project Description:

This project, in partnership with Women for Women International and supported by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), aims to empower returnee and marginalized women in the Ramadi district and its suburbs (such as Al-Hameera, Al-Tash, Al-Saba’ Kilou, and Al-Ankour) both economically and socially through intensive leadership and economic skills training, contributing to their independence and improving their living conditions. The project includes activities to enhance economic empowerment such as workshops on resin art, pottery painting, and training in e-marketing and customer service, helping to increase their income and financial independence. It also provides psychological, legal support, and case management for gender-based violence and early marriage, including for women with disabilities.

In the leadership aspect, women are trained in leadership skills, community participation, and effective communication with decision-makers, enabling them to lead four environmental initiatives addressing issues such as waste management, water conservation, and combating desertification in collaboration with local authorities. The project will conclude with a conference showcasing the results of the initiatives and success stories to raise awareness of the role of marginalized women in development and encourage partners to support similar projects.
